Sketch

So school is over. Looking for a job and starting a new life. Just have to keep sketching I guess. who knows what the future will hold! I'm exited :-)
So at my sister's school, they play Quidditch apparently. A couple kids and a couple adults, some balls, brooms and pvc pipe for goals is all they need for a good afternoon match. Jolly good :-P

Process

I was pulling together some of my stuff that I had laying around from coming up with the look and feel of my thesis and decided to throw them together real quick.
Unfortunately I'm missing many of the intermediary steps, I was trying to work quickly and would often overwrite old files and not think to save the many tests that I did. But hopefully this gives you an idea of how I went about trying to refine the style.

From left to right it pretty much goes from early source material. Early tests to see what I would want to shoot for. Then tests in Maya, seeing if i wanted to go with a slightly shaded look, with drop shadows, or if I wanted a purely surface shaded look.

Little bit of thesis

These are still in progress, but this is the direction I am going in.

A Place's sound

You know how there are songs, or bands that seem to evoke, or even define, the feeling of a place or person? Like, for me, M83's "before the dawn heals us" is Los Angeles, or at least the popularized version of Los Angeles. This, Spoon - I Summon You, is Rome. I love running across these songs, cause they are hard to find. I wonder how many others there are undiscovered...

More DFA

I finally "finished" meaning I need to move on and stop working on this. lotta detail, I like how this turned out overall, kind of an experiment, would do things differently if I were to do it over, think I learned quite a bit on this.

P.S. I tried to make a sort of cut out paper look on this, sort of last minute, but I like it overall. I say that becuse its hard to see on the small version, so click for the bigger version :-P
